Fore!

A good day yesterday at Chislehurst Golf Club for a charity golf tournament in aid of Charlton Upbeats, the Down's Syndrome sports club.  I photographed the groups just before they teed off at various points round the course, and had the prints ready for sale at the Bickley Restaurant yesterday evening, where the competitors were treated to a delicious meal.  I donated a proportion of the proceeds from the sale of prints to the charity. Thanks to the generosity of the guests who participated in a raffle, an auction, and even paid the odd fine(!) the event raised an incredible £25,000 which will buy a minibus for the Upbeats.

Sunshine and showers...

Well last weekend was a mixed one weather-wise, with Saturday sunny when I was photographing the end-of-season awards for Sevenoaks Town Juniors FC, and then incessant rain at Lawnfest.  I was photographing Lawnfest for the organisers, the New School at West Heath in Sevenoaks, a school for children who don't fit into to mainstream education , for a variety of reasons.  Despite the rain, it was a great event, with excellent music performances from the likes of Pharaohs, The Shoestrung and Noah Francis, as well as Zaz the clown, magician Robert Pound and some lovely food.  There are a few photos on the 'Live Music' page of my website www.harperphotography.co.uk and on my Facebook page.

Award-winning photography!

I was pleased to find out that I'd won two awards - a silver and a bronze - in May's photography competition run by 'The Societies', the umbrella body of professional photography societies.  As the competition is open to photographers all over the world, I was particularly pleased that the judging panel liked my images.  The silver award winner is currently on my website's homepage.

Ending the week with a football legend

A busy week ended with a day at the soccer school of Tottenham Hotspur and Argentina legend Ossie Ardiles in Tunbridge Wells.  The young people who attended had a great time, and I took a photograph of each of them (and some of the dads too!) with Ossie, fellow Spurs legend Micky Hazard, and a replica of the FA Cup.  Because I was able to print the photos on site, Ossie and Micky were able to sign them so that the attendees had a unique souvenir to take home.

Well since my last post I've been to the Ritz in London, photographing an event for a group of doctors, and yesterday I took the dress rehearsal photos for Peter Pan, which is on at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks this half term.  I was really pleased with the shots, and I had to be pretty ruthless to edit them down to 200 shots for the cast and their families to choose from!

A quick catch-up...

I've had lots going on recently, so here's a quick catch up on the week just finished:  a PR shoot for the Sevenoaks office of a telecoms company, then some stills during the filming of the Discovery Channel programme 'Wheeler Dealers' at local restaurant 7 Hotel and Diner.  Yesterday it was the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks, where I set up a photo studio during the promo day for next weekend's 70s tribute concert by The Jackie Generation, then this morning some shots of actor Shaun Dooley playing for Otford FC against Kent Police.
